Several articles I have found all say:
"The max cable length MOTU recommends between a USB computer and USB interface is 5 meters (16.5 feet). Longer runs can be achieved thru the use of POWERED USB HUBS."

Thanks Mark....I see that now....
So I need to reroute the cable ....but I can bring it in under 15 feet....so it will be ok.

Chuck,
Is your printer network ready? In other words, can you connect an ethernet cable from a network hub to your printer? If so, you can set your printer up as a network printer and run a much longer distance using a CAT5 cable.
I use the ethernet connection on my laser and have a cable that runs from my laser, up the wall, across the ceiling, down the wall, and into my computer. That cable is about 45 feet. I've never ever had a communication issue with my laser.

Sadly no. Otherwise that would be an option.....but the new postion of the printer, will allow a 15 foot cable so I'm good.
