So Chuck pricked up my ears with a quote from Ren and Stimpy, which forced my hand...

Some of you guys may know I have always had an interest in art, Cartoons and caricature... that stems from a long held love of Cartoon shows...

The art form, the colour, backgrounds, carictures, voices all meld to provide a wonderful medium in story telling, coupled with some really catchy tunes..many of us share a common bond with the Cartoons and Cartoon shows that have been part of our lives since childhood....

Name your favourites..

I'll start with a whole bunch..

Milton the Monster, Fearless Fly
Atom Ant
Secret Squirrell and Morrocco Mole
Ren & Stimpy
Bullwinkle and Rocky ( loved Boris and Natasha)
The Angry Beavers
The Herculoids
All the Warner Bros shorts from the late 30's until the early 60's
Top Cat
Corageous Cat and Minute Mouse

feel free to add to them

regards
Peter

My all time favorite was Rocky and Bullwinkle. Nothing else comes to mind....but that's a problem I've been getting used to. I try to think but nothing happens.

Peter,

Mr. Magoo, mainly, because now that I can't read much of anything without glasses, I can relate. :-)

Okay, I'll bite. I can't go with the oldies as I have very few childhood memories. (It's not bad! Reruns and old shows are NEW for me!)

I have to go with a fairly new cartoon movie since I have only had 1 TV channel for the last 10 years. The Emporer's New Groove. Patrick Warburton and Eartha Kitt's charaters had me ROTFLMAO.

Kid stuff:
Speed Racer
Scooby Doo
Spiderman
...and what was the cartoon where the hobo rode under the railcar train in the intro?

Now:
King of the Hill!
(Pretty much burned out on the Simpsons) D'Oh!

Not really a cartoon, but does anyone remember The Banana Splits?
I recall they used to play cartoons during the show, if memory serves correct, there was a cartoon (the Great Race?) with Snydly Whiplash, The Dastardly Lion... hmmm.

-Ok, I cheated I had to look that up:

Did you hear there's a new sequel coming out? An old friend who lent me her "Groove" DVD told me "Kronk's New Groove" is coming out 12-13-05. The same cast members doing the voices.

King of the Hill is pretty good! (That's the one channel I receive.) I rarely remember quotes from tv or movies but the words of Hank Hill come to mind ..... "Just when you've said the stupidist thing ever, ya keep talkin!"

Also not a cartoon, but one of my fave shows as a kid: SHAZAM!

The Pink Panther became my favorite in my teens...I always thought he was sooooo cool.

There was also He Man. I wasn't so fond of the guy, but I loved his cat. When they were in their "mortal" state, the cat's name was "Cringer"...he was scared of his own shadow. When they went to hero mode, "Cringer" became the fierce "Battle Cat".

I didn't watch a ton of cartoons as a youngster...mostly sat in the pasture on a 5-gallon bucket killing ants with 1" x 1" x 14" wooden garden stake. Hmmm...I still like to kill ants.

I think you are correct... I remember my grandparents talking about that one..... (devil)

PS. I also liked the short-lived Dilbert animations.... something about being able to relate to "the cubicle life".

Okay, Pete, we are kindred spirits....

Besides Ren and Stimpy, some of the ones I watched as a kid and loved were.....

Casper,
Mighty mouse
Huckleberry Hound
Wood Woodpecker
Yogi Bear ( Hey Booboo )
Rocky and Bullwinkle ( way above most kids heads I think as I watch them today. By the way I can do a pretty decent Bullwinkle )
Space Ghost
Johnny Quest
QuickDraw McGraw
Tennesee Tuxedo ( vocied by Don Adams a.k.a Maxwell Smart)
Touche Turtle
and Underdog......

As an adult, Ren and Stimpy, King of the Hill, and I am getting bored with the Simpsons.......

Somewhere amongst my video tape collection I have several of the ren and stimpy shows......

Hey kids ......... its LOG

What rolls down stairs
over tables and chair and over the neighbors dog,

It's good for a snack, it's hard on you back it's log log log

It's LO OG, It's Lo OG, it's big it's heavy it's wood..... It's lo og It's Lo og, it's so bad it's GOOD.

Sigh....I wonder what kind of drugs they used.

I see that this is a very "sedate" group since no one has mentioned
"Drawn Together" (devil)

I'm having a hard time allowing my 14 year old to watch Drawn Together. Anyone seen this show? I watched part of it with him just to try to embarrass him but he wasn't embarrassed at all. We turned it off after they got a bit too 'sexual'. Just because it's a cartoon doesn't make it childs play.
