As much as I would have loved to go to Vegas, the calendar and budget just would NOT permit it this year....

I understand completely.

If Vegas weren't such a short flight, or a "relatively" short driving distance from me, there are many times I wouldn't have been able to attend.

Besides, I have to be here to arrange, er, transportation for Peter and Kathy when they fly into NY from Vegas for their vacation portion of the trip. (devil)
