Full Version: Marble or Plastic bases??

I carry both but most of the time customers opt for the plastic due to price. The Source (Wholesale Trophy) has plastic bases in their catalog for about half the cost of a similar marble base. Continental does too.

We went plastic - marble maybe cheaper at first glance but once you consider extra weight for shipment and the number we pitched do to chipped corners (we refuse to use them if not perfect) we found the plastic to be the best cost over all. Most plastic bases have a nicer area for placing a plate as well. All this just my opinion and worth what it cost you. ;-)
Sure was nice meeting you and your husband in LV.

We carried marble 12 ½ years,, last year we tried the Diamar from Continental. Customers seemed happy with the base (especially for little league and kid awards). The base selection is far superior than marble. My only complaint with the sculptured base is assembly. When you are putting together 100 plus at 34" 36" and 38" heights they are a pain in the butt, as compared to the marble. They slide and because of the rounded corners they don't "lie down in a stable configuration" when trying to assemble. Ah, but with the recent hiring of a part time trophy assembler, I guess thats not my problem for this year. ;-)
