In the May 2006 Recognition Review on page 71 is an ad for Hooya Crystal. In the verbiage it states
quote:
HOOYA crystal, the largest crystal manufacturer and exporter based in China, owns more than 500 skilled craftmen and has a production facility of more than 200 thousand square feet.
At first I thought it was a typo, but than I went to their web page which states the same thing, http://www.hooyacrystal.com/about.php What do you think? Dave

Seems like the same thing that happened in the 60's with made in U.S.A. A guy bought a town in Japan and named it USA. All his electronics was labeled Made in USA, made a fortune before people figured it out.

I believe that Congress passed a law that the product must show the country of origin, not the city because of Usa.

As Uncle Steve is fond of saying, if progress is going forward, what is congress?

Yup. The McKinley Tarrif act of 1891.

(the words "Made in" have been required since 1921)

In reality it is just a bad translation. We own - we have.

On the philosophical side we could do a whole thing on how the Chinese (and most companies including those in the USA) judge their success by the size of their building and staff. More importantly we could go on and on about Chinese employees and their loyalty and commitment to their employers. Have you noticed how that is changing as they become more "Americanized"?

On the "shake you head" side we could wonder why they don't get it right before they advertise in English. (devil)
