Some people in my neighborhood have already adopted that practice with their outdoor Christmas lights, despite a city ordinance against the practice.
What could be easier? Just plug the lights in, for a few weeks per year. :-)
As you say, the stores are sure to be right behind.

What we need is strings of lights with color control.
Change em to pink and white for valentines day, red white and blue for the patriotic weekends, pastel for easter, and whatever your joy is for Christmas.

I'm lovin' that all-season solution. :-)
Actually, it doesn't seem that far-fetched. :S
