Wow! I haven't been on line due to some health issues and a few other "problems" but logged on today to squeeze a little help from you all when I read about The Beach closing the doors.
Didn't The Beach used to be THE place to go when in Vegas? That's too bad.
Todd and I won't be attending this year and will miss seeing all of you. We were just talking last night about the show. I was wishing we were going as there are a few items I would like to pick up at the show for lesser money. :S
I hope you find someplace just as nice as what we had last year. Have fun you all!

Good to hear from you again.
We'll miss you and Todd next year, in Las Vegas, although the party will be well-documented, giving you a feeling of being there.

Thanks David!
I am sure camera happy people will keep Todd and I in the know, LOL.. Hope you find a good place and have a great time. I'm sorry we are missing out.
Have fun and in March I'll be looking for the pictures.

In the "hospitality suite" scenario, is that more like people standing/milling around, as they come and go?

David,
Being in Rotary as well, that is exactly what it is. There will be folks that come in and stay all night and those that come and go.

How would that format be condusive to the door prize drawings?
Seems to me that a private/semi-private room, where all "Beach Partiers" could convene for 2-3 hours would be better.

I would imagine a "Must be present to win format".
It really is a lot of fun to mix and mingle like that, but typically, someone is actually staying in the suite/mini suite. It really works great at Rotary functions.
I know the Hilton has a gazillion partitions in any of it's conference/convention hall. Perhaps we could use one of those. ARA should have a contact with the hotel that we could talk to.
Just a thought.
It is still early Monday so I have not heard back from my friend Doug yet. I'll let you know when I do.

Cody,
May I be so bold as to ask what you are paying there? Inquiring minds want to know.
Thanks,
Dee

Hilton rooms, while very convenient are becoming hard to get already. To get the nights I wanted, I had to go through my AAA travel planner. Good for me cuz it was also a little less expensive than through direct with the Hilton.

The room prices couldn't be better for us. Free!
Actually, my brother-in-law (Tom - he joined us at The Beach last year) uses his Hilton points to secure a room for us, so the price is really hidden.
It's a nice walk to the Convention Center from the Suites. We always rent a car while we're there, but it stays at the hotel when we go to the show....at least most of the time. My wife LOVES to walk (very fast), so a fat boy like me gets a little winded in the trip (almost to the tune of looking for an oxygen bottle!). If memory serves, it's about a quarter mile or so....not too bad.
I called Lisa (Embassy Suites sales dept) this afternoon, and she told me that all the info for their meeting rooms is on their website: www.eslvcc.com She said something about not guaranteeing dates without a commitment, but I honestly didn't listen to that stuff very well. I-)
Their room(s) will hold up to 192 people, so it should be sufficient.
David - Lisa's direct line is (702) 947-7175. Since you have a good handle on what we'll need, you might want to give her a call. She seemed very nice, and seems to know what she's doing (unlike me today - ever had a day that felt like you worked in a scrap factory?).

Doug,
Did you try going through the ARA? I am sure they have reserved a large block of the rooms for members.

Don't belong, and don't intend to (ARA)...but, I got my rooms almost 2 months ago for just under $100 a night. :-) I'm not unhappy. Was checking for another attendee when I discovered that rooms were selling fast...at least that is what they would like us to think!
