There's a new virus (European Storm Video E-Mail (Part 2)) that appears to be causing problems:

But the internet, overall, appears healthy:

This has happened several times that I can remember, but was fixed by the next day....hopefully it will be corrected by tomorrow.
Boy....this reminds me of the cursed dial up days.............Not enjoying the dejavu.

The EE server has been great, but this has been the longest case of server-drag for me as well. I have run into the same thing multiple times on other free engraving forums. It is one of the many obstacles justifying the switch over to a dedicated server, or at least a virtual dedicated server.
The bottom line, it's time to move on! I think it is about time for David to take a leap of faith and take EE to a subscription site so that he is afforded the opportunity to avoid this situation in the future.
As members, it's time for us to step up and show our support for this venue of valued communication. I just paid $300.00 for a local civic organization membership, knowing that I wouldn't reap the same benefit as that I get from the information gained from this forum. Based on that figure, I don't need to tell you what I'd be willing to pay to keep in touch with all of you awesome folks.

I talked to Go Daddy.
They performed some MySQL maintenance, earlier in the day, but nothing that would cause a slow down.
They suggested the possibility of problems with routers (across the country/world) that lead to the server.
No server problems from the Go Daddy side.
At this point (12:42 am) PST, speed is back up to normal.

David,
It was slow here as well, but today ( Saturday) it is working fine.

I was fortunate enough, through "luck of the draw" to have the Go Daddy online support team leader field my call.
I asked if there would be a benefit to being on a virtual dedicated server.
His answer surprised me.
I was told that, even though there would be fewer sites on those servers, they generally see much more intensive use and the potential for disruptions may actually be greater there.
I was also told that all servers are monitored 24/7/365 and "balanced" over a number of servers, to ensure that no single server is overwhelmed.

Yep, an improvement. It started last night. Seems weird that it got faster after you called Go Daddy, even if they said everything was OK. You think they did something?

It's entirely possible. I was put on hold a couple of times, for what seemed like extended periods.
Judging by my experience with John Fish as our hosting, in times of slow downs, or when the site went down, it would occasionally be necessary to reset the server.
Overall, I'm pleased with Go Daddy. The 24/7 live tech support people have been very competent and have effectively dealt with any issues.

You were amongst the handful of people who showed early $upport for the subscription site.
Thank you.
That show of support came at a particularly tumultuous time and to show my gratitude, I have something special in mind for those people.
I've always been reticent to predict an actual launch date, but things are coming together, to the point where we'll make an official announcement, sometime during the next month.

Very cool David...I look forward to what you have planned. It's great to see things look to be moving forward for you.....
It had been so long since we had an update, I though you might have had second thoughts.........
I'll be there when you go live.......

Brian,
Delays, but never second thoughts.
Some snags were in the logisitics/personnel, others, in deciding which way to best keep our "one big happy family" intact. That was my primary concern.
The site will constantly be evolving, athough we feel we've found a viable way to kick things off.
It's an amazingly simple plan.
Happy to know you'll be coming along. :-)
