I have completely given up with MS and I am currently switching to MAC with a dual boot option.
I have been a PC person for ever but this Vista mess makes me sick so I decided to Convert. Even running the Mac in the XP environment the computer screams 5 times faster than anything I currently have and my systems are less than one year old.
What I like about this set-up is being able to have Illustrator open in the mac environment and in the PC environment and copy and paste the files between them without any issues.
We are testing the compatibility issues when printing to our lasers but so far there have been no problems.

That's quite a statement, coming from a staunch PC user.

"you can't teach an old dog new tricks"

The Linux proponents on John Fish's site, "Newbies Linux" are rubbing their hands together.
They think Microsoft has "jumped the shark" this time, with the introduction of Vista, considering its resource-hungry nature and not-ready-for-primetime status.

I have a feeling there will be some more orphans created.
We are still using a Radius as a second laser with XP. Just wondering if we need to ever replace the computer if it will work with Vista down the road.

Don't know if or how well it will work, though.

The SummaSketch tablet uses a serial port and even with their software to add to XP it will not work.
Windows ME changed the directory/file name DOS system by adding a '\' after what it returns, blowing all of the older DOS programs out of the water with that change. Setting it for 98 or 95 compatibility does nothing.
Then XP came along and when a DOS call asks for the drive in use it gives the drive and directory. Then when asked for only the directory it gives drive and directory again. Nothing using those calls can work. Again setting for 98 or 95 compatibility does nothing.
My personal opinion is that it is an intended problem to force the program suppliers to buy the latest version of the languages which cost a fortune for the full package.
