Full Version: ARA Show Venue

Of the convention venues that I've been to (pretty limited), Baltimore will likely always be my favorite.

Our convention was at the Baltimore Convention Center, which is within walking distance of the wharf (awesome seafood!) and Camden Yards (arguably the most beautiful ballpark in MLB - but it won't be baseball season).

I was there in late September, and the weather was very mild. I've never been there in February.....might be a different story.

The only times we got into a vehicle was to and from the airport (THEY HAD SOME TERRIBLE CAB DRIVERS!!!!).

Cody, et al,

It's volunteers (like you!) that make these decisions every year. Each year brings a new mix of volunteers with new conclusions on what should be done.

Maybe this is a good time to volunteer to serve on the next ARA Trade Show Committee (I believe "venue" would fall in that domain)!

If not the Trade Show Committee, you can find a list of the other committees (and the current volunteers *and* their email addresses!) at http://www.ara.org/about/committees.cfm.

Although we've missed ARA the past couple of years, I would have to say that we're also in the camp that no longer finds any special appeal in Vegas...not that we haven't enjoyed our trips there. It's now fallen into the "been there done that" category.

I also think Orlando is a great place for conventions, and of course being within driving distance for us, we do attend any of the shows that are held there as well as frequent trips to Disney. There is certainly a plethora of hotels available, many at a reasonable rates, along with many places of interest and activities for those looking for a vacation as well.

I have noticed other industries that actually alternate their locations between Orlando and Vegas and that seems like one of the best scenarios for all. It would give those on the east side the opportunity to attend even if it's only every other year...and if you're like us, it's always nice to stay in your own time zone! :O)

Jeanette (THE one & only),

I'm not one for volunteering to do very many things that aren't purely local.

However, this looks like a great time to make an exception.

I'll start looking at doing that this morning. Thanks for the suggestion!

Okay....I just emailed Glenn Beckworth to volunteer my service. As long as he doesn't ask around about me, I would think he'd let me help out.

However, if he DOES start asking questions....I doubt that I'll hear back from him. :O)

You got to love her determination.

Joe,

That's true, though, Jeanette looks harmless enough, in-person. :-)

Joe -

Are you implying that Jeanette (THE one & only) is a blood-sucking insect??? (devil)

No - would not have ever thought that - why did you think that?? (devil)

PS - The target on your back does make you an easy victim though. :P
