Here's a great deal for someone ...
My customer has a Universal laser they want to sell ASAP. Price negotiable. Asking $3000.
Here's what I know about the system: ULS 25E, approx. 10 years old, 12"x24" engraving area, cylindrical attachment, stand.
Seller says laser tube still working but they expect that it will need to be replaced in the next 6-8 months. $2400.
If you're interested, let me know and I'll forward seller's contact info.

The ULS-25E is an older ULS-manufactured laser system equipped with a Synrad CO2 laser. (This was before Universal began manufacturing its own CO2 lasers). Please be aware that some months ago Synrad announced that would no longer service these older tubes, although it appears that they have since amended that decision and are offering recharge and repair services for these older lasers on a limited basis.
If you are considering purchasing this particular system, I would urge you to call us with the laser’s serial number to confirm whether or not Synrad will handle any recharge and repair issues. Synrad’s service policy for these older lasers is complex and needs to be addressed on a case-by-case basis.
If you currently own a ULS-25E system, be advised that ULS has a limited supply of these lasers available but we cannot guarantee their long-term availability. Our goal at Universal is to do our best to support our customers and communicate important issues as directly as possible so you can make informed business decisions. Thank you and please feel free to contact me or the ULS support department if you have any questions.
Regards,
Dave Wilhite

With the understanding that this particular tube may not be servicable/rechargable, is there a "new" replacement tube available and at approximately what cost? Or will the entire laser have to be scrapped?
Thanks for your participation and help in the forum...

There aren’t any “new†replacement laser tubes available for the ULS-25E. We have a very limited supply of original, remanufactured DC Synrad 25-watt tubes available for exchange at an approximate cost of $2,750 plus shipping.

David,
Now that we are on topic of laser tubes I have question regarding my Universal V-400 40w. When lasering gold or silver plastic ply I get faint mark at left and right of each line of engraving about 1" away from ends of lines of text. Already tried to adjust thickle (factory set at 5khz) down to 1 without favorable results. Do you think it could be tube needing recharge, It is original tube from 2000 and not serviced to date.
Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.
Tony

I was hoping there was another tube that would work in the machine giving it a life of more than 6-12 months.

With 6-12 months of laser life, if a person hit the ground running, with a good product and marketing plan, that may be enough time (and money) to step up to a new (or newer) machine.
A little bit of a stretch, but I thought a "tube is half full" comment was in order. :-)

UncleSteve,
You can still purchase a "new" Synrad Laser Tube if needed for approximate cost of $6000.00 to $7000.00.
This would be directly from Synrad.

Tony,
It is possible that the tube is needing recharged, however you should adjust the tickle width and leave the KHz alone. Try this setting
5KHz and 1us.
Are you changing this on the tube or in the system menu?

Tony,
I agree with Mike, it sounds like your laser may need recharging.

Thank's David,
If the tube requires rechargeing, what is turnaround timewise to have it serviced, and the cost to have it done.

Tony,
I am attempting to assist David here because he is not a "Service Tech" he would need to ask the service dept to answer these questions.
#1 the cost to recharge the 40 watt laser tube is $950.00+shipping the lead time should not be to bad however I can not answer that question. You should contact the service dept. at 480-609-0297 they would be able to give you the shipping times. Typically if you ordered one they will send it to you and then you will send the bad one back to them and then you will be charged the re-charge cost + shipping. All of the ULS tubes are completely re-built and upgraded to current standards this includes electronics as well as the gases.
#2 change the system tickle setting to (5kHz and 0us) if the system has problems firing then you are better than 70% that the tube needs to be re-charged. If this corrects the bleeding issue then leave it at that setting.
If it does not correct the bleeding issues then we can help to adjust it on the tube to see if this corrects the problem.
