Full Version: learning curve switching brands?

Hello everyone,
Does anyone have experience in going from Xenetech to another brand laser? What I mean by this is, I have a Xenetech and I am thinking of selling it and going to a bigger table size. I am wondering how much of a learning curve I would go thru if I purchased another brand? I use the Xenetech software and corel for projects. I do like the Xenetech software for some projects better and others corel.
Not just software but general settings and operation of the machines, is there much difference to learn?
This is still in the thought process, I haven't decided anything yet. Just looking into the possibility and options. :/

I wouldn't think you would have a very large learning curve. You understand the basic operation of your current laser engraving system. You understand how to lay out your graphics. Your speeds and power settings might be a little different. I would think it would be a fairly easy transition, unless you are one that does not like change.
I would think the Brewers at Engraving Concepts in Arlington, TX. could address any concerns you might have. They sell both the Xenetech and Epilog line of laser engraving systems.

I've used Epilog, Universal and now Trotec. Corel is the key, the drivers are all different but it'll be smooth as silk in a couple of days.
Your knowledge of materials and understanding of settings will get you through with no real problems.

Thanks, thats what I was thinking. I will look into the other machines to see if their are any obvious differences too.

Thanks for the info. Yes, I am one of those, that doesn't like change, at least now in my middle age! :S But, will adapt if needed. ;-)
Yes, I bought my Xenetech from the Brewers.

Don't forget that Xenetech has a larger table available and then you won't have "change" ans still have the best of both worlds - XWG and CorelDRAW print drivers.

The ULS systems will work using the Xenetech software.

Yes, I have already talked to Xenetech about moving up to the 24x36 from my aurora. But, looking at the different options. This old dog might need to learn new tricks with a new brand :P

WOW, I didn't know that. Good info to have. I did contact Universal to see what they have available. Thanks for the info. :-)
