Mont Blank and one style of the cheap, (Bic style) pen do not engrave worth a darn.
With the Bic like pen, you either do not touch the plastic or it melts at the engraving area.

The Real Swiss army knives laser engrave with no problem. I do recommend a color fill with Rub-n-Buff or Acrylic Paints since the material is a solid red.
The fake knives I use lower power and 2-3 pass.

Those are the best kind to experiment with, providing you have flight clearance from the client. :-)

It should work.
Its been awhile but I think I used one of the paint stick fillers. With narrow and small letters they are quick and easy. They are solid like crayons and you just rub in to fill and wipe off. Johnson plastics has them as others likely do.
