Hey Carl,
I like designing, but I can't write instruction worth a c__p :-) .
You are suppose to follow the numbers sequentially and I think I did miss #17, I must have been between counting my fingers and toes and got mixed up or I might have sneezed and lost count, oh hell I don't have a good excuse >.<
Heaven forbid I put out my over 300 piece Doll House design. Actually heaven forbid if I have to make instructions. :S

Buzz, I'm curious about your design technique. Do you cut out a bunch of pieces with paper and scissors until you get it close? Or use a 3D modelling program? Or .... ???

Enquiring minds want to know. :D

I use a 3D program, a bottle of aspirin, and a couple of swear words every now and then. ;-)
Actually I enjoy making these items, but they would be difficult to make money with compared to our Wall Tribute products. I've made a few for a die cut company, which can produce in quantity but they don't look as good as lasered.

Which 3D program? AutoCAD? CATIA? Pro-E? Doesn't your 3D program automatically generate exploded views? That might be enough documentation and you won't have to write a word (or count on your fingers and toes).

My 3D is just the starting point; tabs, slots, embellishments are all added after the fact. My first generation as I call it looks very rough. I create a finished piece that might take many generations to create. Especially when I get carried away.

I made the torrent, all the latch doors, and a bottom access panel fully operational on the tank, now that took nothing but good aspirin!

I've started making furniture, here is a picture of my first piece. Now remember it is the first generation :-) I like to start with the most used piece of furniture first.

Tom,

I guess without instructions for that piece, people will have "nothing to go on." :-)

Carl,

I'm trying to keep a "lid" on that information, until I get a "handle" on the assembly.

I'd hate for anyone to "tank" based on my instructions. :-)

"Butt" you didn't even use the emoticon with the "flushed" "cheeks". :-$

(just thought I'd "pipe" in)

Dave,

I would have used the emoticon, but i didn't want to "bowl" you over with added info, or unnecessarily create a "flap."

Besides, I wasn't sure if the idea would "float." :-)

Glad to hear your boy enjoyed it.
I had hoped to design it so it would not need glue, except for the tires. Did yours go together tight?

Question to all; Has anybody tried making it with acrylic? I would like to see what colored acrylic would look like??

Tom, Do you sell those plans for the doll house? My wife has wanted me to make her a doll house every since I got my laser. That has been 6 years now.

Hi James,
That is a long time to keep a wife waiting :-) I haven't decided what I'm going to do. Our business has been to create High-Profit product designs and the Doll House, I fear, will confuse people on what we offer.

My thinking is, (hopefully you can follow my untrained thought), when you first get a cell phone the company will give you all kinds of freebies to sign a contract. When you open a large Bank account you get to pick from a toaster or such. The customer who is still your customer gets nothing, actually in the cell phone case sometimes their stuck with higher monthly fees. I was thinking why not award your current customers with a monthly fun project. This is what I'm leaning to if I can create understandable instructions :S

I had someone in the shop suggest I use the plans to give away at the trade shows in exchange for business cards and e-mail addresses for future contacts, but I'm leaning more to my original idea.

I am working on another house plan that was supposed to be simpler, less wood, easier to assemble. I failed, it is now over 300 pieces, three stories with stairs again, and even a second floor wrap around porch, I just can't control myself. When I get it finished I'll post a picture.

I don't like to see a child disappointed (in this case your wife) If you go to our website and e-mail me I'll send you my first house I built, (I made plans for this one, it was made for an architect) with little effort I believe you can redesign it into a Doll House.

Bachi,
I do not have instructions made for the Doll House as of yet. I will be sharing designs in the future, I'm just not sure how and when.
