I'm working on Court House (ADA) signs right now. Have been doing enough over the years that I can almost read braille with 'eyes' (not fingers).

Ed,
The beauty of this forum software is, we seem to have an unlimited number of folders. Delphi maxed out at 16. With the addition of the "ADA Signage" folder, we now have 25 :-)

There is nothing more satisfying than to know that I have helped to further enhance this forum. Next week, I plan to request a discussion (and folder) on the ways in which a laser (and an extremely outdated Vanguard rotary) can be used in quilting.
It's going to be a good day. No doubt!

Zona: I think we are becoming pen pals. If you don't mind, I would like to contact you by email regarding a project we are involved in and don't have much of a clue.

Next week I am going to request folders which I will use to sort folders into categories. ;-)

Being that you are in CA and if you haven't
already contacted www.accesscommunications.bigstep.com
this might be the best place to start.
There is more to ADA signage then you might think.

Ed: Thank you for the advice. I have already figured out that there is a lot to it. And I have already been in touch with Access, although only tentatively. And I've been pouring over sign-related message boards. And Sharon Toji is in my area. I'll be contacting here as well.
What I really want to do with this particular client is come up with our own mutually agreed upon designs that complement the building and decor and, simultaneously work with a company that can partner or advise as to how to satisfy ADA compliance using our designs. One thing I already know is that the client does not want the standard brushed metal framed signs that are so prevalent.
But I'm certainly open to advise and counsel to make me less "clueless".

David, I was going to refer Ed to the article that 'Hula Mike' wrote on sublimation/ADA signs, but can't remember if it was EJ or A&E. Do you remember?

Zona,
The article that Mike "Hula Mike" O'Hara wrote appeared in the Engravers Journal. The topic was sublimation and ADA signage, though, he covered many of the regulations involved.
Not sure which issue, but it was over a year ago.

David,
I believe the article you are referring to is titled "Engraving, Sublimation & Architectural Signage: A Good Fit?" This appeared in the March 2002 issue of EJ.
Enjoy!

Yes, that it is it. Thought Ed might want to read it, if he has a customer wanting something different in signage. I agree with David .... sure doesn't seem that long ago. Thank goodness you guys keep such good records for us.
