I haven't seen the Signature attachment, to know how it works.
Traditionally, gold foil is placed under a heated die, which is applied to the leather with pressure, releasing gold foil in the image of the die.

I think there is a heated shank that takes the place of the cutter

Like all after market attachments that are rigged to run on someone elses machine, getting the feed rate, heat level and pressure correct would be an ever challenging venture. In otherwords, I don't know........... they did not sell very many I would sepculate, because the letter presses were big when they introduced the attachment.
