The first piece of music I learned to play, that I really liked was House Of The Rising Sun as well. I took lessons from an 'ol Nashville country picker and he was teaching me to play by notes which drove me nuts, when everyone else was strummin' the cords mainly with the quickie bar cords. I'd be plincking along with the notes when he would accompany me with quite an accompanyment of quitar licks he had played over the years. I had an old '62 Strat back then which I sold to his son, which he started a band named The Fragile Lime which got to some national notariety back in the late 60's and cut a few records.
