Hi Gang,
Today I received my Recognition Review from ARA and it reviewed the award winners of last March's ARA awards gala......among which was Roy Brewer, winner of Sales Representative of the Year. That article got me to thinking.
When I was an ultra newbie, I reached out to Roy via email and although he did not know me Roy responded generously and warmly. Answering my questions and introducing me to his business and family. I was nothing short of AMAZED by this because it is so rare in the world anymore.
It was because of Jeanette that I found this forum.
During a cross country fact finding trip I stopped in at what was then Brewer Sales in Arlington Texas, only to meet Jeanette, Randy and Roy's wife Shirley...( Roy of course was on the road ) all of whom paitently answered my questions, put up with my inquiries...and treated me like I was the only person they needed to deal with in their busy shop.
It is a true pleasure for me to know Roy and his family. They are genuine, gracious, polite and caring people that inspire, encourage and teach, whether you are a customer or not. The Brewers are, in "my" opinion true leaders within our industry and I for one am glad to have made their acquaintence.
Recently I looked up the word "Class" in the dictionary....and there was a picture of Roy.

Chuck - I could not agree with you more. What a wonderful family/business. Even though I am not in their sales area the folks from Engraving Concepts have been nothing short of "Amazing".
My first meeting with Roy was at a small Trade show ( P&I Suite Show) in Kansas City or Atlanta (both were put on by the Neer Brothers) - about 5 or 6 years ago. I believe he taught a class as well as having a room set up with engravers running. He was one of the people who inspired me to take our business to a higher level. True professionals like Roy Brewer do not sell products - they sell dreams, hopes, goals and futures.
That was about 6 years ago? What a neat concept those shows were - much more personable - although not cheap to produce.

I'm still a newbie and not in their territory, but they've already had a profound effect on getting me up and running with a laser. They helped me while helping one of their customers sell me his old laser, all the while treating me like one of their valued customers even though they didn't make any money on the deal. A rare, caring group of folks.

I am probably one of their biggest aggravations, the way I have kept hounding them about questions I have and such. I haven't even made a purchase from them... yet (operative word there Roy and Jeanette) but they still treat me as if I am a current client with their willingness to help. I have all sorts of samples that they have done for me free of charge. These guys are awesome. The only thing that disappoints me about them is that Randy hasn't shown us any pics of the new baby yet.EDITED: 14 May 2006 by FW_HAYNES

I've only met Roy personally but have known him since the early 80's. I've spoken by phone and email with Jeanette and Randy but have not met anyone else in the family. You only need to spend a few short minutes with these folks to know they are the real deal.
They just don't come any better.

Y'all are so nice ... thank you, very much, for the kind words. You made my day!

Hi Frank,
I just received the tags you sent to me today, and they are great! I am going to be a vendor at a dog show on Sunday, so they arrived at a perfect time. Hopefully, I will get some orders for some and will be ordering soon.
Thank you again, it was nice of you.

Hi Barbara
Will you be engraving at the show? I tested an Engraver called a GoScribe at a local pet show and made over $1500.00 in just 2 days! I was able to engrave 250 tags @ 6-8 dollars each! No one wanted to wait for mail order . Everyone wanted them while they visited the show.

Hi Frank,
No, I will only be displaying them and taking orders. I know that it's an impluse thing, but my engraver is a large one.
The scriber sounds nice, but I can't afford much more than supplies and advertising right now.
Still getting this business up and running.
Thank you again, and hopefully they will be a hit.

Frank,
Received your care package today. Thank you! We'll put them to very good use. I'll be including your "tag sets" in the Start-up Packet we deliver with each new machine we install.
The rest of the samples will be put to good use when the guys demo the Xenetech & Epilog systems!
THANK YOU! Hopefully, it'll turn into some orders for y'all.

Franklin,
I made the same mistake...she used that "yet" to get me to buy two pieces of equipment.
*sigh*
As soon as I have the room, we'll be getting another (bigger) laser.

Why did a vision - of a hawk sailing over a field, with her eyes wide open scanning the gently rolling landscape for the slightest movement, prepared to swoop down with speed, accuracy and grace, to make the kill quick and almost painless - come to mind when I read this??? :-)

Joe,
Jeanette does seem harmless enough, in person.
I guess that's her disguise. :P
