Having been an Earthlink customer since they devoured Mindspring, I have to say there have been few problems other than an ocassional outage. As of last week though, that seems to have changed.
I'm not having connection problems, and in fact can access sites everywhere....except my own that are being hosted by someone else on a shared server in California. The sites are up, and in fact still getting orders, but I can not view them! Despite numerous calls to support and trying the usual methods in troubleshooting, I can still access any sites ecept those on that particular server.
I have now been fighting with Earthlink for a week, and have a feeling the war is about to escalate. A simple trace route shows the connection ending at an Earthlink server in Atlanta. I was starting to think that I might be the only one affected and that the problem was somewhere in my computer or configuration (though nothing had been added or changed) until I received an email from a customer who is also on Earthlink saying the site appeared down! I'm not sure if it is nationwide or limited to the southeast.
If you use Earthlink for an ISP (I'll give you my condolences now if you ever have to contact support!), I would appreciate your taking a moment to try and access one of the sites listed below. They are not all mine, but all on the same server, and I can not access any of them.
If you can, or can't access the sites, I would just appreciate knowing what area of the country you are in so that I can nail this down and finally convince Earthlink that there is a problem on their end. Of course if you can't access the sites and have a different ISP, I would appreciate knowing that as well. :-)
Feel free to post here or send me an email (they seem to have no problem letting that through....especially the SPAM!). I thank you in advance for your time and trouble, and should anyone help me solve this mystery, a package of free sublimation goodies will be on the way to you! :-)
The sites are:
www.dye-sublimation-products.com
www.jamar.com
www.diveslates.com
www.adeptresources.com
www.calwfs.com
I don't even know what some of these sites are (certainly not adult sites, don't worry!) as I can't access them, but hopefully if you can get to any of them, then you're going through a different earthlink server...or maybe not! :-)
Thanks again!

Thanks Steve..now I at least know WHO I can't see....though that was not the intention!
Needless to say I knew about the first two, and confess I'm familar with Jamar too...though it's not my site, it's me mums! :-)
The others however were just given to me from the hosts so we could narrow down whether it was just my sites or those hosted on the same server.
I appreciate your time though, I just hope that I can get it narrowed down as to who or what area it is affecting...then all I have to do is convince Earthlink! ;-)

Are there Earthlink user forums anywhere? Or some forum where a lot of Earthlink users might hang out?

Steve: I'm in Southern California AND I'm an Earthlink customer. I was able to go to ALL of the sites that you referenced.

Steve;
My neighbor (Albertville, Alabama) was able to get to your site using Earthlink. If I can coax a second favor out of him, I'll send you a traceroute.

Philadelphia, Verizon DSL, all come through. One of them was sort of slow though.

Thanks everyone, it seems to only be with Earthlink, yet not all using Earthlink. I would love to see a trace route form Alabama to see if it goes through the same Earthlink server in Atlanta!
So far, it seems to just be in the southeast but I'm hoping to narrow it down a bit more. It may be my only hope of getting them to find the problem. Seems like if it's not a widespread outage, the engineers in the Ivory tower can't be bothered.....
Of course one solution would be to simply go with a differsent ISP, but that doesn't help anyone else on Earthlink...though their support may change that eventually! :-)

I have confirmed with others using Earthlink DSL that the same problem exists for them. Dial-up is fine and also gets routed though Washington from here. At least I've narrowed it down to just their DSL service in the southeast...now if I could just convince them!
Thanks again for the help!
