I am cutting some leather and getting strong odors remaining on material. Has anyone had any success in cutting through leather without this problem?EDITED: 16 Apr 2007 by DGL

I just cut a name out the other day for a motorcycle racer and I didnt get much smell at all.........I guess the key might be a good exhaust system.
Not sure what the neighbors were smelling but I got nothing........ (devil)

I think it depends on the tanning process used on that particular piece of leather. I engraved some bags last week that had virtually no smell but the test piece I used to see how the logo would look really stunk bad - like burnt hair.

Thanks for the answer Brian, the smell is not in the exhaust, it is in the piece after the engraving.

Or, get a really good cold. Major nazal congestion helps with the smell, sometimes.
