Thank you Brian.
The site will be essentially the same, with upgrades and improvements coming steadily.
This move will give me more time to devote to those aspects.
Running the balancing act of being nearly-omnipresent here, while trying to maintain a profitable engraving business, has been a challenge. :-)

I find this whole thing kinda ironic.
The other site started because this was going to be a pay site. The other site started charging before you did.
I am only going to pay for one site and this is it!'
Thanks for a great service.
Steve

Steve,
Oh boy! I don't want to open that can of worms, but I truly appreciate your support.
How else are we going to keep track of your adventures with the Chinese laser machine? :-)
Thanks again; it means a lot to me.

No problem. I don't want to open any can of worms either!
I did not mean to put down the other site in any way. I just want to make sure that I did not imply anything negative.
I just don't want to pay for more than one site and I decided on this one for various reasons.

Your statement is not totally true, we have a FREE forum with many advanced features and a Premium Members area that has Training Videos, Software and many other features that is $20 per year to help offset server and bandwidth costs.
We have never had a "Forum War", both forums serves a purpose but in a different direction. I suggest you join David's forum and visit us on our free forum. That is a "Win Win" for everyone.
And David I truly wish you success with your new forum, it takes a lot of hard work to run a forum.

Thank you Ken.
As you suggest, there will be fans of one forum, or the other, or both.
As much as they look alike, there are decided differences in the function and audience they serve.
All the best,

Like I said I am not saying anything bad about your site.
But I can only spend time on one engraving forum, and this is the one.

Well for a first time, this can of worms has been opened and I will not say anything, but David you know my thoughts on the issue and you you know I have your back. Now that I actually have my laser, it is really interesting to put in action some of the advice that I have picked up on here.
I have played around on some of the other sites and this site is the one that the others try to emulate. Keep up the good work and I am definitely on board.

Thank you for not tipping over the can.
David and I are strong believers that the high road, is the ONLY road.
I thank our members for staying with us on the high road.

Thank you Franklin.
The purpose of my announcement was to give a bit of prior notice of the launch.
Thankfully, for those opposed to a subscription site, there are alternatives.

I think it's the diversity of David's forum that has made it such a popular place to be. It's a virtual one-stop support center.
David,
It is MORE than that. There is truly a sense of family and commaraderie that exists here that I have not found anywhere else......
Just my two cents. Want change? B-)

I have an overdraft on my "advice" account being relatively new to this industry - I will gladly join the subscription format as the site has been so useful to me over the past couple of years.
Count me in, and hopefully, one day, my "advice" account will be in credit with me having a little more to give back too.
Good luck!

Andrew - I hear what your saying but, keep in mind, questions that are asked and answered are a learning tool for many, no matter if your new to the trade or an seasoned vet. Question and answers stimulate thought and growth, that is one reason the forum concept has so much value to it.
Your a valuable part of the forum, keep asking questions. I know I will.

Joe,
As you say, it's the dynamic between experienced "instructors" and inquisitive "students" that provides the fuel for the site.
By all means, I urge people to ask their questions, no matter how well-covered, or insignificant they may seem.
Ask a question; get an expedient and comprehensive answer.
That's our cornerstone function.

As I said a while back, you can count me in too. I'm also a member of the WOE forum. I get good information from both forums and don't mind paying for it. I'm looking forward to great things.

Congratulations David. It has been a long time coming and I can't even imagine the amount of work that has gone into putting everything together.
And as you know all-too-well the real work is just beginning.
I am sure that everyone is pulling for your success because your success is our success.
It will be my privledge to offer you my support. The fee seems very resonable.

Thank you Bill.
To use an analogy, I sense that some people are expecting a "County Fair" to "Disney World" transformation, overnight.
This step, is to allow the continuation of what we have here, with the ability to take it further.
It's a simple plan, but one that will be very effective.

I'm not sure what to expect but even if nothing at all changes the charge will be justified.
I have always felt that what you are offering now is valuable enough to deserve a fee.
