Hi all- I have just been contacted about bidding on the new hospital signage down the road from us. This is a big project. I can handle the other signage requirements, but they have also asked that I send in a bid for the metal (I believe they are aluminum) ADA Handicap Parking signs that will be attached to the concrete walls in the parking garage.
My questions are:
Do these now need to have the state ordinance writting on them also with the ADA code #, or is the basic wheelchair symbol & Parking wording enough to be up to code?
Who is a good supplier to find these through, since I'm sure these signs are made by screening?
Does anyone know if the regulations in CA are different from Oregon's for this type of signage?
These signs do not require braille, just the screened signs for Handicap Parking.
Thanks for any help you can send this way.

A braille parking sign would be an oxymoron. But governments are well known for that.
Each state is different, probably each town also, so I have no advice except to check with city hall. Also drive around a bit and see what is installed in that area.

Cindy, I use Grimco for disabled parking signs. They do have state specific ones, but I don't see one for Oregon. They have them for California & Nevada & several other states. Generally they are 12" x 18" alum. or steel screen printed signs.
Only once a construction company specified which Illinois Dept of Transportation sign was required & I ordered it form Grimco. Their web address is www.grimco.com. I'm sure there are other companies Grimco is who I use. Hope this helps.

Yep, Grimco is who we use too. They have the signage labeled by state for some of the quirky regs you run into. I also buy the steel posts from them too. I include these with my package.

Thanks all. The specs say that the sign has to conform to CA regs, so if they have a CA one, I can order that. The architect is from CA, so all his specs are CA oriented. Wonder what will happen when inspection time comes. CA usually has a lot more regs than OR, although OR is no picnic when it comes to following ordinances.
The guy is coming in today with his paperwork, so wanted to be able to discuss this while he is here. I'll check out the website now.
Thanks again,
Cindy M
